There are exactly zero chapters in any of the pregnancy books on what to expect when parenting a child with mental health issues.
— Tara Rolstad, author, speaker, mental health advocate

Rolstad has been there, both as a foster parent to a niece who lived with severe mental illness, and as parent to a child of her own that struggles with serious depression and ADHD. She helps parents wrestle with questions like, how do you know when your kid needs help? How do you help when one of your child's friends is struggling? What kind of help do they need? What do you do in a crisis?
